About Me:
I am a cultural and medical anthropologist specializing in the anthropology of drug use and addiction, cultural studies of biomedicine, and identity and subjectivity. I earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2002) and a M.S.W. in Health and Community Practice from Washington University in St. Louis (2007). I am currently completing my dissertation in Medical Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. This work examines how the moral politics of addiction and its treatment shape addiction treatment clients' subjectivities and socio-political inclusion based on 20 months of ethnography at a residential treatment center in the Midwestern U.S.
