The Anthropology of Tourism Interest Group (ATIG) at the American Anthropological Association is conducting a survey on attitudes towards sustainable tourism. This is designed to follow up on the research done last spring on the same topic with ATIG members, which was inspired by the UN World Tourism Organization's year of Sustainable Tourism. The results of the survey were presented to the International Cultural Tourism Committee of ICOMOS last May and has contributed to the drafting of the Florence Declaration on Sustainable Tourism that was ratified late last year. The purpose is to compare and contrast SfAA vs. AAA members’ attitudes towards sustainable tourism, with the hope of developing a better understanding of the anthropological perspective on sustainable tourism, as the topic continues to grow in international prominence and economic significance.
A preliminary analysis of these results will be presented at a special triple panel on sustainable tourism during the Philadelphia meeting.

It should take about 10 minutes of your time. The survey is open now, and closes on March 12.
