Hello all,
My name is Lisa Newton and I work in the Research Group at the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley.
Myself and my colleague Leah Reisman are seeking presenters for an American Association of Museums 2013 Annual Meeting session proposal about using ethnography as a research and evaluation tool in museums.
We think it would be valuable to the museum community to have a chance to gain a balanced understanding of the value of an ethnographic lens, what ethnographic methods look like in institutions like museums, and how to recognize when ethnographic research/evaluation methods would be valuable.
We are excited to include a variety of perspectives on ethnography, including that of museum professionals, consultants, and anthropologists.
Our draft proposal can be found on the AAM website at: https://ww2.aam-us.org/ebusiness/proposals/searchproposals. It is proposal #134, titled “Stories from within: Leveraging ethnography for research and practice".
If you are interested in participating in this session as a presenter, please send us an email at leahmgreisman@gmail.com and/or lisa.r.newton@gmail.com. Also feel free to forward this email to any interested colleagues.
We hope to hear from you soon!
Lisa Newton & Leah Reisman
