Greetings! Is anyone interested in participating in a roundtable discussion on the "Feminization of Agriculture" at the 2018 SfAA meeting in Philadelphia? The idea is to have an open discussion with 5 or 6 participants on different perspectives and experiences of this process. Please find below the proposed abstract for the roundtable, and let us know if you would be interested in participating: firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com.
Abstract: "Feminization of Agriculture relating to Sustainable Futures" – diverse perspectives and experiences
Diverse approaches to the “Feminization of Agriculture” nowadays show that many women enjoy taking charge of agricultural work (as Mencher’s ethnographic experience in India suggests). This roundtable discussion explores the “Feminization of Agriculture” from women’s perspectives and experiences. We ask questions such as, what role(s) do women play in the process of “Feminization of Agriculture”? Is it being imposed or do they want to actively take part in agricultural processes? If wanted, what can be done? What are the constraints in the process of “feminization of agriculture”? And other questions women may have. We aim at raising questions for discussion.
