Paul Farmer, medical anthropologist and doctor, recently spoke at the Joan Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at University of San Diego. CSULB anthropology student Ravi Wadhwani and I went down to see him speak, while the rest of my students decided to watch the broadcast of his talk.
(See the website: http://www.sandiego.edu/peacestudies/ipj/
for relevant information on how to see the video.)
I have posted some photos taken at the event at this website: http://picasaweb.google.com/hilarie.kelly/PaulFarmer#
Two of the photos show three women (from Sudan, Pakistan, and Nicaragua) attending the IPJ Women Peacemakers in Residence Program at the time.
Many of these photos are of information that was posted in a separate exhibition on campus displaying the work of Dr. Farmer and his organization, Partners In Health (www.pih.org
) These photos contain useful comparative data and statements about what this organization does and what it stands for.
