It is really as simple as that. There is a wealth of knowledge out there that is waiting to be discovered and the world needs people on the front-lines to document and disseminate this information. I also believe that as academics we have an obligation to change society for the better. Even though "better" varies person-by-person, we can all agree that practices such as human trafficking, environmental degradation, and blatant human rights abuses are abhorrent and should be confronted.
For my future goals, I plan to earn a Ph.D. in Anthropology or Environmental Anthropology and achieve a position working with NGOs or think tanks to affect policy on sustainable efforts in the U.S. or globally.
