Practicing anthropologist; languages I have worked in: Arabic, Russian, French. Have conducted research in the Middle East, Central Asia, Albania, India, and the U.S. Have worked in public health anthropology for over 20 years. Theoretical interests include constructions of culture, culture change, and "behavior change"--including deconstructing public health assumptions. Research topics include gender and the body (folk physiology and anatomy), reproduction, tuberculosis, culture change.
